    Carolina Covenant Peer Mentoring Program

What it Means to Serve as a Peer Mentor

Serving as a peer mentor to first-year Carolina Covenant Scholars is both a privilege and a responsibility.  It is a privilege because you serve as a role model for a tremendously talented group of students who have demonstrated remarkable tenacity and resilience in their journey to Carolina.  It is a responsibility because you are dedicating yourself to helping these first-year students out of a genuine concern for their success and well-being.  Your goal is to help each of your mentees adjust to the academic and social atmosphere at Carolina during their first year at UNC.

The qualities of a successful Carolina Covenant Peer Mentor are:

    1. Enthusiastic commitment to the goals of the program
    2. Excellent communication skills
    3. Maturity, exhibited by sound judgment and common sense
    4. Flexibility and a sense of humor
